Research into the dynamics of resilience in terms of climate risks

Cover Nature Climate Change

Roger Cremades and Maria Manez from GERICS, as well as four scientists from international research institutions, have examined the impact of resilience dynamics on climate risks. Their article "Using the adaptive cycle in climate-risk insurance to design resilient futures" has now been published in Nature Climate Change.

Climate change is among the current and future challenges that the insurance industry is facing. Research into the dynamics of resilience in terms of climate risks is helping insurers as well as governments to reduce the cost of insurance programs needed as a result of climate change. In addition, such assessments also help to ensure the insurability of future climate-related risks, in particular with regard to the increase in extreme hydro-meteorological events.
