Dr. Bente Tiedje has been a research associate at the Climate Service Center Germany since 2015 and has been working on improving the interface between regional climate models and climate service products and impact models in the NUKLEUS project (“Actionable Climate Information for Germany”) since 2020. The BMBF project, which is funded as part of the RegIKlim research project, aims to provide robust climate information on the convection-permitting scale for Germany and post-process the regional climate model data for various climate service products in different model regions. In the second phase of the project, Dr. Bente Tiedje is working with RegIKlim colleagues to develop a web platform that will offer relevant data products, tools and recommendations for climate adaptation practice.
After her studies in physical oceanography, Dr. Bente Tiedje graduated from the University of Hamburg with a doctorate. As a research associate in the Junior Research Group of Climate System Data Assimilation she mainly focused on the decadal variability and predictability of mass and heat transport in the North Atlantic. At GERICS, in the BMBF project MiKlip II, she then developed practice-relevant products from decadal climate predictions for selected users from the private sector. Her scientific interest lies in the “last mile” between climate research and climate adaptation practice, as well as the regional transferability of sustainable workflows.
