Dr. Christine Nam is a climate scientist with over 15 years of experience in satellite retrievals, climate models, big data analysis, and whose day-to-day work is the epitome of interdisciplinary and transdisciplinary collaboration. Dr. Nam’s work focuses on the extraction and customization of indices from climate model projections to help assess and identify climate risks impacting operations in a variety of sectors including critical infrastructure, health, coastal tourism, and viticulture, just to name a few.
Christine fosters collaboration among Earth System scientists, Data scientists, and Sector-specific Stakeholders, in order to develop strategic digital workflows for data-focused web-based platforms. These platforms address common barriers, such as data volume, unfamiliar software & data formats, technical infrastructure, and scientific background knowledge, that hinder the actionable climate knowledge. The workflows incorporate the concepts of: Modularity, Visual Communication, Scientifically sound practices, and User requirements.
