Here, she is working in the CASCO project (Risk workflow for cascading and compounding hazards in coastal urban areas) and the IDAlert project (Infectious Disease decision-support tools and Alert system). Her research interests focus on hydrology and water resources, compound hazards and risks, climate change, and impacts.

Jeewa completed her Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering at the University of Peradeniya, Sri Lanka, and obtained her Master’s degree in Water Engineering and Management at the Asian Institute of Technology, Thailand, and in Hydroprotech at the University of Nice-Sophia Antipolis, France. She was a PhD Fellow at the University of Twente and IHE Delft Institute for Water Education, The Netherlands (2016-2020). Her dissertation was focused on investigating how different modelling approaches and input data sources may influence projections of streamflow and fluvial sediment loads accounting for climate change and human activities, particularly in data-poor basins.

Previously Jeewa has worked mainly at the University of Twente, The Netherlands as a Postdoctoral Researcher, at Lanka Hydraulic Institute Ltd., Sri Lanka as a Research Engineer, and at the Department of Irrigation, Sri Lanka as an Irrigation Engineer.
