Since January 2022, Simon has conducted his doctoral research at GERICS, exploring the intersection of climate services and their role in assisting sub-Saharan African cities in addressing climate change. His work centers on understanding how these services can be designed and leveraged to enhance the governance of locally-led adaptation strategies, particularly Nature-Based Solutions to extreme events such as floods.
Simon has previously contributed to capacity building, strategy, and planning at the International Telecommunications Union, the World Meteorological Organization, and the Uganda National Meteorological Authority. As an affiliate analyst at ITACA Solutions, he evaluated financing strategies for projects strengthening climate resilience in agricultural value chains across the Caribbean and the Americas. Simon's educational background includes telecom engineering and systems thinking, with a focus on system dynamics philosophy.
